Come with us to Studenica to meet the feast of St. Simeon the Mirotocivi, the head of the Holy Nemanjic dynasty to join together liturgically and prayerfully celebrate the patron's glory of the Monastery of Studenica

The Lavra  St. Simeon-Monastery Studenica will be marked on Saturday 26. February of glory. The liturgy will be served by His Grace Bishop Justin of Zica in the presence of a large number of clergy, monastics and faithful people.

The history of Studenica Monastery is embedded in the very foundations of Serbian spirituality and statehood. From its foundation onwards, special care and love for this Lavra was manifested both by the rulers and hierarchy of the Serbian Church, as well as by the entire Serbian people. 

By raising the famous Hilandar, St. Simeon and Sava of Serbia counted themselves and the fatherland to a "flock" of well-spoken branches of God-loving monastic communities on Mount Athos. With the construction of Studenica and the transfer of Nemanja's relics to it, only the heart of the Serbian Orthodox Church began to beat, whose head has remained to this day the exalted and holy Patriarchate in Pec. 

St. Sava himself constantly returned to Studenica, not forgetting his father's endowment and the cemetery church. He listened with special care to the damars of her being, taking care, and from afar, of the Studenica Brotherhood and the Abbots. Abbot Spiridon from far Jerusalem from one of his travels to the Holy Land (probably 1234). he writes in Studenica informing him of himself with a lot of brotherly love, longing and concern for the Fatherland, sending him gifts. Domentian wrote two sermons that St. Sava uttered in Studenica, one as abbot of this monastery, and the other as archbishop of Serbian and maritime lands.

Heirs to the throne of Stefan Nemanja, for generations through the centuries, proved to be prominent donors of Studenica, either through material support, or through the construction of new institutions of sacred or profane purpose. King Radoslav, grandson of Stefan Nemanja, raised it around 1235. a monumental external narathia in front of the Virgin's temple. Serbian King Milutin built it in 1314. a small church dedicated to Saints Joachim and Anna, hiring the best Byzantine artists.

Eight hundred and twenty years since the presentation of St. Simeon, eight hundred and ten years since St. Sava finished Studenica typik.
