At the foot of the Borac karst, which is almost a living museum of our medieval history, there is an old medieval Borac church. A written mention of her survives from 1346. and 1350. years. The foundations of the church are directly laid on the rocks that from the fault of the same name on its part of the space and end. The church is obscured on three sides by steep cliffs, with fourth-century cliffs so that it is visible only when it is reached. This makes it even more interesting and interesting. It is located in the wing of the warrior krš who watches over it and protects it for centuries. Unfortunately, our history has been too tragic, many wars and attacks of the enemy have left their mark on this holy place as well. It was repeatedly destroyed and set on fire, but the people always restored it and considered it the center of spirituality in this region. It changed its appearance but never lost its importance.Let the virtual tour be the beginning, we are waiting for you in the municipality of Knic. Welcome!

Byzantine-Serbian style of construction

The building style belongs to the Byzantine-Serbian style, while the remains of the frescoes date from the 16th century.

In addition to its historical and spiritual value, this church also contains an artistic wealth.

Its port is filled with graves that represent witnesses of the suffering history and the sacrifice made by our people.

The medieval cemetery of the monuments of "kapacar", which stood out with vivid colors and even more colorful work of our masters of that time, stands out. It is the cemetery where we have the most monuments of this type in the Balkans and the oldest date from the 16th century.

Due to its great historical and artistic value, the church was placed under the protection of the state in 1971.year.

Categorized as a great cultural-folk good of general importance in 1983. years.

In the village of Čestin, at the foot of the Gledić mountains, and not far from Gruža, there is the Monastery of Kamenac. The first thing that will amaze you when you set foot in this holy place is the silence, peace and tranquility as well as the beautiful nature that has certainly hidden this monastery during the turbulent centuries of Serbian history. The oldest history of the Kamenac Monastery is unknown, and according to tradition it was built by despot Stefan Lazarević at the beginning of the XV century. According to the inscription above the entrance portal to NAOS, the church was rebuilt in 1547. first year and then 1700. years, when it was enclosed with stone walls. At the beginning of the XIX century, the monastery again suffered greatly in wars with the Turks, and after its liberation began numerous interventions, which were crowned with the creation of paintings and installation of iconostasis in 1870. years. New iconostasis and carving was done by Dimitrije Posniković in the XIX century.

Written traces of the monastery were left by Joakim Vujić in 1826. the year he visited this monastery, and in his writing he says that the building of the church is in quite good condition, and that the painting is much damaged. There is no information about this painting, nor about the period of its initiation, nor what it looked like. Now, on the walls in the interior of the church and narthex there is a painting from 1870. years. The arrangement of frescoes is common for church painting of this period. From the earliest times the Monastery of Kamenac was a male monastery. By the decision of the competent church authorities, he was transformed, in 1966. in the women's monastery. The new monastery was consecrated in 1979. years.

According to tradition, the Kamenac monastery was built at the time when the Kalenic monastery was built, centuries ago. By building the Kalenić monastery out of stone from Borac karst, one of the despot's nobles, who was in charge of transporting the stone, seeing that it would be enough for its construction, krishom left a part of the stone in the place where today the Kamenac monastery is located, with the desire to build a place of worship here as well. Having learned of such a deed of his great, despot Stefan did not prevent him from doing so, but due to the fact that it was done by Krish, without his knowledge, the despot named the monastery "Kamenac" after the stolen stone, as a form of spiritual punishment.

The Sisterhood of the monastery produces medicinal balms, teas, tinctures, from plants found in the environment and grown by themselves, and the most famous are "balm of gaves" for the treatment of rheumatic diseases and joint diseases as well as "mushroom cleaner" from mushroom Chag that nuns receive from Belarus.

St Sava ' S

In the monastery there is the" foot of St. Sava", probably brought from the Studenica region, and legend says that if you wash yourself with consecrated water from the foot you can cure a headache and improve your eyesight.
